How to choose a sofa bed
Click-clack, pull-out or folding?
Click-clack sofas have a backrest that clicks between upright, lounge and flat positions; they are quick and compact. Pull-out designs hide a fold-out mattress, giving a bed more like a real one. Folding and futon designs are the simplest and cheapest.
Think about who will sleep on it
Occasional guests are fine on any of these. If someone will sleep on it for several nights, pay attention to the mattress thickness and surface, and consider a mattress topper.
Measure it open as well as closed
A sofa bed needs space in front to open. Measure the length it extends to in bed mode and leave room around it to walk.
Storage and extras
Corner sofa beds often have a storage section for bedding. That makes guest nights easier, so it is a feature worth paying for.
