How to choose
Left-hand or right-hand? How to choose a corner sofa
Stand facing the sofa
The simplest way to work out left or right is to stand facing the sofa, as if you were about to sit down. Whichever side the longer chaise section sits on is the hand it is called. Decide that first, then check which side of your room has space for it.
Check the overall footprint
Corner sofas take a lot of floor. Measure both walls it will sit along and the length of the chaise as well as the main body. Leave room to open doors, and make sure the radiator is not blocked.
Reversible chaises and storage
Some designs let you switch the chaise from one side to the other, which is useful if you rearrange or move. Others include a storage ottoman under the chaise, which is perfect for blankets and spare bedding.
U-shaped for larger rooms
U-shaped sofas wrap around three sides and are the best option for a large living room or open-plan space. They need a lot of room, so measure carefully before ordering.
