Welzona 275cm Chenille Modular L-Shaped Sofa with Ottoman in Dove Grey

The Welzona 275cm Chenille Modular L-Shaped Sofa with Ottoman is a deep, low-slung modular sofa in the style often called a cloud sofa, with generous seat depth and a relaxed, sink-in feel. It is upholstered in chenille in dove grey. Chenille has a soft, tufted, almost fuzzy surface that feels cosy straight away and gives the sofa a plush, relaxed look. The yarn is looped, so it is gentle against the skin and good at hiding light creasing.

Foam padding does the work in the seat and back, keeping the cushions plump and supportive. The listing mentions spring support under the seat, which adds a lively, supportive bounce. Delivery is vacuum-packed, so the foam arrives squashed and needs a day or two to recover; the deepest sections can take up to 72 hours. Button or tufted detailing on the back gives it a more traditional, tailored look. The armrest shape is part of the design and gives you something comfortable to lean on or perch against.

Because the sections are separate, you can place them as an L-shape, push them together into one wide sofa, or split them across the room. Practical extras listed include an ottoman, so remotes, phones, drinks and blankets all have somewhere to go.

Day to day, the sections let you change the room without buying anything new: split them for a party, push them together for a film night, or reconfigure them when you move house. Dove grey is a flexible, calm colour that works with warm woods, cool whites and bolder accent cushions alike.

The listing quotes a width of 275cm. It is listed as 3 seater. It needs no assembly out of the box. Because it ships compressed, open it where there is space around you and give the cushions a few pats while they recover. Tape its footprint on the floor, then measure the front door, hallway and any stairs so there are no surprises on delivery day.

The colour in the photographs is a guide: lighting and screens differ, so judge the shade from the colour name and the photos together. It suits people who rearrange the room, rent a home they may leave, or are not sure yet which layout will work best.

Care guide

How to care for your dove grey chenille modular sofa

A sofa is a big purchase, so a little regular care goes a long way. These steps are written for the chenille on this sofa; always check the care label on the sofa itself first and test any cleaner on a hidden patch.

1. Vacuum gentlyUse the soft brush attachment on a low setting each week. Chenille traps dust in its tufts, so regular light vacuuming works better than occasional hard cleaning.
2. Never pull a loose threadIf a loop or thread snags, trim it flush with small scissors. Pulling it can run a line of tufts and leave a visible bald stripe.
3. Blot spills fastPress with a clean, dry cloth to lift the liquid, then dab with a cloth dampened with water and a drop of mild soap. Test somewhere hidden first.
4. Check the connectionsEvery month or so, push the sections firmly together and check any connectors, so the sofa stays one tidy shape rather than slowly drifting apart.
5. Let it recover after unpackingCompressed foam needs time to reach full shape. Leave the sofa in a well-aired room for the period given in the listing, pat the cushions, and give it a few days of normal use before judging how it sits.
6. Know when to call a professionalIf the sofa is badly stained or the label says professional cleaning only, an upholstery cleaner will know what is safe for the fabric. It costs far less than replacing the sofa, and always test any product on a hidden area first.
