Panana Retro 2 Seater Linen Settee: a compact seat for smaller rooms

About this 2 seater sofas

Panana Retro 2 Seater Linen Settee in Brown

Short on space but not on comfort? The Panana Retro 2 Seater Linen Settee gives two people a proper seat in a footprint that suits studios, spare rooms, nurseries-turned-offices and compact living rooms. It is upholstered in linen in brown. Linen-look upholstery has a light, natural weave that brings an airy, relaxed feel to a room. It is breathable, easy on the eye in bright rooms and pairs well with both warm and cool colour schemes.

Foam padding does the work in the seat and back, keeping the cushions plump and supportive. Listed seat depth is 58cm and seat height 48cm, which means a balanced seat that works for both sitting up and relaxing back.

Two-seater sofas like this one are chosen for comfort first: the cushioning, the seat depth and the upholstery matter more than any single extra, and the specification table sets out the details for this model.

Day to day, a two-seater is the sofa you actually end up sitting on: it takes two people, or one person with a laptop and a blanket, and it leaves the rest of the room free for a coffee table, a desk or a play area. A warm tone like brown gives a room a grounded, welcoming feel and ages gracefully, because everyday wear shows less on mid-to-dark tones.

It is listed as 2 seater. It needs no assembly out of the box. Tape its footprint on the floor, then measure the front door, hallway and any stairs so there are no surprises on delivery day.

Colours always look a little different on screen than in a living room, so judge the shade against the listed colour name and the photos together. Choose it for a small living room, a bedroom seating corner or a study where a three-seater would dominate.

Care guide

How to care for your brown linen two-seater sofa

A sofa is a big purchase, so a little regular care goes a long way. These steps are written for the linen on this sofa; always check the care label on the sofa itself first and test any cleaner on a hidden patch.

1. Vacuum the weaveA soft brush attachment once a week keeps dust and hair from settling into the weave, where it can dull the colour over time.
2. Blot spills straight awayPress a clean, dry cloth onto the spill without rubbing. Natural-look weaves show water rings if they are soaked, so use as little moisture as you can.
3. Check the care labelUpholstery labels use codes such as W, S, WS and X to say what can be used on the fabric. Follow the code on your sofa before using any cleaner, and test a hidden patch first.
4. Plump and rotateGive the seat and back cushions a good plump once a week, and where cushions are loose swap their positions now and then so wear spreads evenly.
5. Keep it away from heat and strong sunRadiators, fires and a window that gets all-day sun fade and dry out upholstery. A gap from heat sources and a curtain or blind at the brightest hours keeps the colour true for longer.
6. Know when to call a professionalIf the sofa is badly stained or the label says professional cleaning only, an upholstery cleaner will know what is safe for the fabric. It costs far less than replacing the sofa, and always test any product on a hidden area first.
