Panana 165cm Modular Cloud 2 Seater Loveseat in Black

The Panana 165cm Modular Cloud 2 Seater Loveseat is a deep, low-slung modular sofa in the style often called a cloud sofa, with generous seat depth and a relaxed, sink-in feel. It is upholstered in corduroy in black. Corduroy has a ribbed pile that looks warm and textured, hides everyday marks better than a smooth weave and feels soft against bare arms. It is one of the most popular living-room upholstery choices in the UK right now.

Expect it to arrive compressed: once opened, the cushions recover over a day or two, and the thickest foam can take up to 72 hours.

Because the sections are separate, you can place them as an L-shape, push them together into one wide sofa, or split them across the room.

Day to day, the sections let you change the room without buying anything new: split them for a party, push them together for a film night, or reconfigure them when you move house. A dark colour like black gives a room depth and a more dramatic, grown-up feel, and works best with a lighter rug or a few contrasting cushions.

The listing quotes a width of 165cm. The listed dimensions are 165 x 85 x 60 cm; always measure your own space against the specification table as well. It is listed as 2 seater. There is no assembly to do: unpack it and place it. Open the packaging in the room it will live in, so the foam can expand where it will sit. Measure the room and, just as importantly, the hallway, stairs and doorways it has to get through before you order.

Colours always look a little different on screen than in a living room, so judge the shade against the listed colour name and the photos together. It is for anyone who likes to change the room around and wants a sofa that moves with them.

Care guide

How to care for your black corduroy modular sofa

A sofa is a big purchase, so a little regular care goes a long way. These steps are written for the corduroy on this sofa; always check the care label on the sofa itself first and test any cleaner on a hidden patch.

1. Vacuum with the ribsOnce a week, run a soft upholstery brush attachment along the length of the ribs rather than across them. This lifts dust and crumbs out of the grooves without flattening the pile.
2. Blot spills, never rubPress a clean, dry cloth onto a spill straight away to lift it. Rubbing drives liquid down into the ribs and can leave a shiny, flattened patch.
3. Revive a flattened pileWhere the ribs have been crushed by sitting, go over the area with a soft clothes brush, working in the direction of the pile, to stand it back up.
4. Check the connectionsEvery month or so, push the sections firmly together and check any connectors, so the sofa stays one tidy shape rather than slowly drifting apart.
5. Let it recover after unpackingCompressed foam needs time to reach full shape. Leave the sofa in a well-aired room for the period given in the listing, pat the cushions, and give it a few days of normal use before judging how it sits.
6. Know when to call a professionalIf the sofa is badly stained or the label says professional cleaning only, an upholstery cleaner will know what is safe for the fabric. It costs far less than replacing the sofa, and always test any product on a hidden area first.
